Water vs. Soda - I will be the first to say, I hate water. I can't stand of the taste of it. (Does it have a taste?) Up until January, I was drinking regular soda in ungodly amounts. Once I started looking for weddings dresses, I tried jumping on the whole "get healthy to lose weight for my wedding" kick. I switched from regular to diet soda. Now I know it's not water, and I read that water actually aids in weight loss but I just could not give up my caffeine. (I would kill someone) I kept reading that diet is actually just as bad for you as regular soda, drink water. (Again, people would die) Without any kind of a regular exercise regimen or change in diet, from January to April, I dropped an entire dress size and almost twenty pounds. Diet may not be better for you, but in my case, it worked to accomplish what I needed to do.
Vitamins - I have several bottles of these floating around. My immune system sucks, I have had shingles twice in the past seven months. It's not that I don't want to take vitamins, really. I buy a bottle, take them for a couple of days, and then all of a sudden, my brain seems to shut itself off that they ever existed. They sit in my bathroom cabinet, unnoticed, until I get sick again and go scrounging for medicine to stop whatever is currently trying to kill me. I see the bottles, pop a few vitamins along with my medication of choice. A few days later, I am feeling better and the cycle starts again. (As I get older, I really think my brain is bored and just enjoys playing stupid sometimes, or it's trying to kill me)
Exercise - As soon as I typed this word, my back started hurting, my knee got a sharp pain, and I got a cramp in the sole of my foot. (My brain is playing with my body again). At almost forty, *winces* I know that if I don't start taking better care of myself, I am never going to get down to the size I want reach. The older you get, the harder the weight is to come off, and I am pretty sure no amount of diet soda is going to let me get into a size 7 again.
Recently, mom and I have started talking about walking again. We could both use the exercise and, although, it's not a big step in the exercise world, it is at least a step in the right direction. As we were sitting in the pool yesterday, we decided we were going go ahead with the walking, in the evenings when it's cooled down. We went to our rooms to change, and found out that our tennis shoes have gone into full stealth ninja mode. Interesting...
What things should you be doing that you aren't?
